Two Men Arrested at Outdoor Grow - TMTV/BCTV Nelson BC, Aug 20, 2010  2 men have been arrested after being found at an outdoor grow on Hwy 23 South.  After a month long investigation Revelstoke RCMP moved in on an outdoor grow last night (August 19) 40 kilometers south of Revelstoke.  The grow was on Crown land and it contained over 150 mature marihuana plant. The two males, aged 25 and 23, both from Revelstoke were taken into custody without incident and both will appear in Revelstoke Provincial Court in December to answer to the charges of production of a controlled substance.

52 Year Old Nelson Man Charged with Impaired Boating  From KBS Radio - Nelson BC, Aug 20, 2010 -  Police arrested a 52-year old Nelson man, said to be well known to them, for impaired operation of a vessel, and dangerous operation of a vessel. Police were called after a boater said his kids had to jump off their boat for fear of being struck by the suspects boat in a near miss incident. The boat was impounded and will be held pending outcome of the investigation. The man had also been charged earlier this year for operating a vessel without and Operators license.

FOREST FIRE NEAR NELSON UPDATE JULY 16, 2010 - BC Forest Service firefighters assisted the City of Nelson power line crews with a fire that ignited yesterday at approximately 3pm as a result of tree falling on a power line about 1.5km up the Kokanee Creek forest service road. The fire grew to ½ hectare in size and was fought by three initial attack crews and was quickly contained a few hours later. Today, two initial attack firefighters are mopping up the fire. The fire did not threaten any buildings or structures.

Kimberly Ruth Noyes Trial Starts Monday

TMTV For Global TV & CBC TV  Kimberly Ruth Noyes, charged with second-degree murder in the death of 12-year-old John David Fulton is going to trial on Monday July 5th.  Noyes, 42, was formally charged with killing Fulton, who was autistic and whose body was found in her Grand Forks, B.C., townhouse Aug. 17, 2009. Body of missing man recovered Nakusp B.C. July 1, 2010 - Arrow Lakes Search and Rescue along with the RCMP were able to recover the body and identify the man as Billy Coffman. Coffman had gone missing in the early morning hours on June 9 after he was said to have lost his footing and fell into the Kuskanax River around the bridge on Highway 23. An initial search of the area that lasted for days turned up nothing. The B.C. Coroners Office in Penticton will be assisting in the investigation to find the exact cause of death.

Castlegar Teen Drowned  TMTV/BCTV - June 28 - The autopsy of 19 year old Castlegar resident Zachary Larsen has concluded, the teen died by drowning. There is no indication of foul play but the investigation is continuing. Larsen disappeared after spending an evening with friends at a Castlegar night club on June 6, his body was found two weeks later on June 21 in the Columbia River. TMTV NEWS AIRING ON GLOBAL TV @ NOON, 5PM, 6PM & 11PM THURSDAY The former Silver Ledge Hotel in Ainsworth BC burned to the ground this morning. The fire stared next to the hotel in a trailer which was quickly destroyed by the fire and then spread to the former hotel. Kaslo Fire Department and other emergency agencies arrived on scene but could not save the old hotel. It burned to the ground shortly after. The hotel was built in 1896 and was being  used as museum. At this time fire officials don't know what started the fire but the investigation will continue.

A SAD DAY IN AINSWORTH BC The Silver Ledge Hotel in Ainsworth B.C. built in 1896 after a fire had destroyed the town earlier that year. It was used as a hotel until 1949. After being closed for 14 years it was then purchased by two Calgary families and used as a “summer cottage”. During the 60s and 70s cosmetic and structural restoration produced local interest in the building and historical research. It then became a museum in 1976, holding many of the local artifacts, photos and other memorabilia which was all destroyed in the fire.

Breaking news: Monday May 24, 2010, 12:30PM TMTV/BCTV Kootenays - A plane has crashed into Kootenay Lake near Cresent Beach, 18kl north of Nelson BC. Witnesses say the plane was smoking from the engine and the plane was sputtering just before the pilot ditched it into the water. The pilot and one passenger were rescued by boaters almost immediately after it hit the water. Reports are the plane sank very quickly. BC Ambulance, RCMP, Balfour Fire Rescue and Nelson Search and Rescue attended the scene. There were no injuries reported. Environment Canada will be assessing the scene because the plane is leaking fuel.

Found remains identified Feb 18, 2010 - The Revelstoke RCMP have received confirmation on the identity of the human remains found on Mount McKenzie last Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Noel Fraser Moore, age 40, formerly of Ontario.  The cause of death has yet to be determined.

Body found had been there for months Feb 15, 2010 - Revelstoke RCMP say they have found the body of a unidentified adult male on Mount Mackenzie, and say that the body appears to have been there "for some months." RCMP Staff Sgt. Jacquie Olsen says that a local resident was hiking on the mountain on Feb. 11 when he located "what he believed to be human remains." RCMP say they were working with the BC Coroners Service to establish a cause of death. Jeep hits two girls on toboggan in Cranbrook, BC  Jan 21, 2010 - 11PM Two 11-year-old girls in Cranbrook, B.C., were hit by a Jeep Thursday when they slid down a hill on a toboggan and onto a road, police said.  The two girls were taken to East Kootenay Hospital and then flown to Vancouver Children's Hospital with serious injuries. The accident happened in a semi-rural area in the 2000-block of 25th Street South. The girls had been sliding down a hill on a private property and then crossed onto a public road, police said. The 26-year-old driver was unable to stop. Road conditions at the time were icy.

Some organizers will be selling Candles and donating 5 dollars to the Meisner Family for his 4 children. According to police, Meisner was last seen by his wife on the morning of Nov. 27. She had dropped him off at his vehicle, which was parked at the Orchard Park Mall in Kelowna BC. Meisner is Caucasian, stands 6-1, weighs 275 pounds, has a muscular build and is bald. He was last seen in blue jeans, a white T-shirt and a brown hoodie. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

TRAIN INCIDENT IN NELSON  TMTV/BCTV Kootenays Oct 30, 2009 - The CPR train heading east out of Nelson was stopped for a couple of hours after the train engineer thought he may have struck someone walking on the tracks. RCMP dog team, Nelson City Police along with Nelson Fire and Rescue searched the soccer field and Lakeside Park area by Kootenay Lake but found no one with any injuries. CPR Police have been notified and will continue the investigation. The train blocked one of the entrances to the mall area but has since moved. The incident was called in at the same time power was knocked out to much of Nelson and the north shore, making residence believed it was a train crash or derailment, but that was not the case. The power outage and the stopped train was un-related.

PLANE MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING AFTER COCKPIT FIRE   TMTV/BCTV Kootenays Exclusive, Oct 21, 2009 - An Air Canada Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-300, flight QK-8216 from Cranbrook, BC to Vancouver, BC on Tuesday had already descended towards Vancouver and was 30 minutes east of Vancouver at 10000 feet, when the crew declared an emergency, reporting a fire in the cockpit. The crew requested a straight in approach to one of the runways. The crew managed to contain the fire, the smoke dissipated, the outer pane of the left hand windshield shattered however leaving only the inner pane intact. The airplane was cleared to land and touched down safely with emergency services on stand-by. The runway was closed for several minutes.
