RCMP play ball
hockey with school
kids

TMTVNEWS.COM,
Kimberlery BC Canada
--- As part of
hockey week, Cst
Chuck Battye
organized four days
of ball hockey at
Kimberley RCMP
detachment complete
with lunch. The
games ran each day
involving students
from McKim Middle
School, RCMP members
and players from the
Kimberley Dynamiters
hockey team.
Each class made
their way down to
the detachment for a
20-30 minute game of
ball hockey in the
back parking lot.
After the game
students had hot
dogs and hot
chocolate for lunch
prepared by
community
volunteers.
Over 275 students
from grade 4 to 7,
participated in the
event. RCMP members
from both Kimberley
and Cranbrook came
out to play. For the
grade four students
that didn’t play
hockey their teacher
Bill Sutherland set
up teams of
skipping. Kids
jumped to the beat
as Sgt. Laurie
Jalbert turned rope.
“This was a very
successful event
which not only
promoted physical
fitness, but built
lasting
relationships
between the police
and students”, says
Cpl Chris Newel.
The Kimberley RCMP
would like to thank
and recognize
Cranbrook Tim
Hortons, Kimberley
Overwaitea, the
Kimberley
Dynamiters, Togs and
Toys and Kimberley
Speed Watch for
their contribution.
