MISSING CRESTON WOMAN PRESUMED DROWN AFTER CAR FOUND IN RIVER

 

 BCTV Kootenays, Creston BC. Search and Rescue retrieved the vehicle of Lana Chipesia from the Goat River late Thursday afternoon, however there were no occupants when the interior was examined.  

"RCMP investigators believe that Lana Chipesia was the driver and sole occupant of her vehicle at the time that it crashed into the Goat river.  Lana Chipesia 23 yrs old, is presumed drowned however she remains classified as a missing person until she is located" stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk.

The Creston RCMP investigators along with RCMP Victim Services have updated the Chipesia family.

RCMP will continue to investigate the vehicle crash itself.  Current search efforts are now completed and stood down. Creston RCMP will now re-assess and consider options for future searches of the river area downstream.

 

Sheilah Sweatman, a  BC Volunteer Search and Rescue technician drowned while conducting a search and rescue operation of Chipesia's vehicle Wednesday afternoon. Sweatman's body was recovered from the scene at midday Thursday.
