CHARGES OF ARSON IN DUMPSTER FIRES TMTVNEWS.COM - Aug 4 --- Charges have now been laid in three dumpster fires that occurred at Chahko Mika Mall and Bogustown Pub between July 29th and July 31St.  A 49 year old Nelson resident has been charged with three counts of arson.  Although the damage was contained to the dumpsters, the potential for damage to surrounding buildings was significant.  The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled for court in September.  Charges will not be laid against a second female related to these incidents.

Three vehicle accident closes Highway 3A  TMTVNEWS.COM, (TMTV Photo) Nelson BC --- A three vehicle accident closed Highway 3A for approximately one hour Sunday afternoon, one kilometer past Kokanee Park Store on Nelson's north shore. There were no major injuries, however several people were taken by two ambulances to Kootenay Lake Hospital as a precautionary measure. RCMP, ambulance service and the Balfour Fire and Rescue attended the scene which involved a pick-up truck, van and a car. Charges are pending. Head-on Collision on Highway 3B in Trail   On June 5, 2011 at approximately 3:27 PM police were called to a report of a 2 vehicle head on collision on Highway 3B near the entry for the Trail Landfill. Investigation and eyewitness accounts revealed that an Eastbound car was in the slow lane and then drifted over through the fast lane and then into the oncoming lane. It was at this point that a Westbound vehicle was struck head on by the Eastbound vehicle. Each vehicle contained a driver only and both drivers were taken to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. One driver remains in the hospital at this time and their progress being monitored. Trail RCMP is currently investigating the causes of this accident and is being assisted by the West Kootenay Traffic Services.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday when a late model Hyundai carrying two New Denver woman left the road 30 kilometres southwest of Nakusp, crashed into a tree and fatally injured the passenger, a 44 year old woman. Mobile home fire in Bonnington reveals grow-op Photo: Beasley Fire Department. BCTV Kootenays - The RCMP have confirmed that a mobile home that caught fire on Tuesday revealed a grow-op. Beasley Fire Department responded to the call on Whitelock Road in Bonnington, an area just west of Nelson BC. No one was home when fire officials arrived. The mobile home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage and is probably not salvageable. The RCMP confirms that a marijuana grow-op was discovered and they seized 120 plants and a few bags of bud. Charges are pending against the individuals responsible. RCMP have to sort out between the owner and the renter. ForisBC, insurance adjusters and fire investigators were at the scene Wednesday to begin their investigation.
